There may yet be others that ask, what possible harm could there be in viewing someone's nakedness? Well consider the devastation that overtook the lives of Ham, (Noah's son) in Genesis 9:22-27, and King David in 2nd Samuel 11:2-27, 12:1-19. All this started with one person looking upon the nakedness of another. That's all it took. We now know that the consequences effected both the viewer and their offspring. Imagine the trouble that could have been avoided had they chose not to look. Check this website out for more information, www.PornHarms.com. First, take the time to consider the trouble you can avoid if you choose not to look. Counting up the cost before starting down the wrong path could save someone an enormous amount of trouble. Now that is an understatement! To better explain my reasoning I would like to visit some Old Testament scriptures, some of which are found in what bible students call the Law, or the commandments that the ancient nation of Israel were required to obey. The books of the bible that contain the Law are disdained by some because that dispensation has expired. We are now in the dispensation of what is called Grace, and the scriptures clearly tell us we are not under (bound to abide by) the Law or the commandments of the Old Testament. I understand this, but we must also be aware of 2 Timothy 3:16, that says, "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: and in Romans 15:4, it reads, For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. You cannot tear out the Old Testament from your bibles for it is indeed from the Old Testament that our Lord revealed the prohecies of Himself to His disciples. In Luke 24:27 it reads; And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself. In the preceeding verse, Christ, the Lord makes it unmistakably clear that the Old Testament is filled with prophesies of Himself, beginning with Genesis, which was written by Moses, it is the first book of the bible. This point is made again in Luke 24:44, where it reads; And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in ( the law ) of Moses, and in the psalms concerning me. To be more to the point, think about the following. Most of us have heard that one the 10 commandments tells us to,"Honor your Father and your Mother". Should we then cease to honor our parents because we are no longer obligated to keep the 10 commandments? Of course not! The same would apply to the commandment that reads, "Thou shalt not kill', or the commandment that reads, "Thou shalt not commit adultery. Yes, it is true we are free from such commandments but we are not free to sin, and so with this principle in mind let us look to the Old Testament. In the 18th chapter of Leviticus, the Lord spoke to Moses and gave him ordinances, judgements, and statutes to give to the children of Israel, and said in the latter clause of verse 5; which if a man do, he shall live in them: I am the Lord. Then in verses 6 through 19, the Lord makes it abundantly clear that no one, but no one could uncover the nakedness of another except it be his own wife. To say it another way, the only time the viewing of nakedness, for the purpose of arousal is sanctioned is when it's between a husband and a wife as it reads in Genesis 2:25. These two have nothing, absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. However, what is absolutely unacceptable to God is the urge or sexual desire to look upon the nakedness of any person outside of our marriage. Let me clarify that last sentence. There are certain professions that (require) the viewing of nakedness, such as doctors, nurses, ambulance medical tecnicians, and let's not forget, parents, to name a few. The difference is that they are not or rather shouldn't be viewing the nakedness of the individual with the intent of being intimate with them. To the consummate professional there is no sexual intimacy involved, lives or in the balance, focus is paramount. Their jobs require that they keep the main thing the main thing. The way to recovery is to discipline self, to focus our desires on our spouse, not someone elses. King Solomon penned the following in Proverbs 5:15; Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and in verse 17; Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee. In verse 18; Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth, verse 19; Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love. Then Solomon gives a serious warning against straying from the marriage in verse 20; And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger? Verse 21; For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. Verse 22; His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, (what was once wicked fun becomes an unbreakable chain) and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins. Verse 23; He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray. Unfortunately, these words of wisdom proved to be unscrupulously prophetic against King Solomon, see 1 Kings 11:1-6. IF ONLY HE HAD DONE WHAT HE KNEW WAS RIGHT IN THE SIGHT OF GOD! Consider this for a moment, if you don't see anything wrong with pornography ask yourself this question. Why is it viewed in secret? If there's nothing wrong with it, why do viewers hide their screens so guardedly? Because for most people it would be a shameful thing to be caught viewing pornography. That shamefulness that is associated with viewing explicit materials reveals the somewhat guilty conscience of the viewer and uncovers pornography for what it really is, that is, something you don't want anyone to know you are looking at. Search your heart. The Lord Jesus Christ did not send people to psychiatrists, he simply read people's hearts aloud, allowing them to see their wrongs, and then he commanded them to repent or stop doing the wrong thing. How much money and trouble would we save if we would simply examine ourselves and then take corrective action? Christ Jesus is able to save you, yes he can rescue you from over powering urges, but you have to let him. Just as you surrendered your thinking process to pornography you have to open your heart and mind to the word of God. In 1 Peter 2:11, apostle Peter wrote; Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Whoever you are, whatever your background, you must resist pornography's pull and fight for your soul, you must fight! Give yourself a chance. In Colossians 1:10, we are commanded to walk worthy of the Lord. Any pornography is unworthy of the children of the Most High Lord.
